The aim of this paper is to describe the presence or not of adverse reactions during and after the applications of ozone therapy in patients with Retinitis Pigmentosa in the last ten years. A retrospective study was done with 2486 Retinitis Pigmentosa patients in the "Camilo Cienfuegos" International Retinitis Pigmentosa Center, from January 1993 to January 2003.

Major autohemotherapy, 15 applications, (with an ozone concentration of 40 mg/mL and 50 mL of volume) or rectal insufflations (with the same number of ozone applications and ozone concentration, with a volume of 100 mL) were applied to these patients.

Results: The results demonstrated that 8 patients referred some kind of adverse reactions: 2 with nauseas, other 2 with stomach depletion, euphoria in 2, unusual fatigue in 1 and metal taste in 1; 5 of them receiving rectal insufflations. This represents the 0.001 % of the total of patients treated. No ophthalmic side effects were observed in this group.

Conclusion: In our institution the ozone therapy has been found to be an extremely safe medical therapy, free from side effects.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the presence or not of side effects, as well as the grade of satisfaction, in 100 patients treated with ozone therapy in the "Orfilio Peláez Molina" Provincial Center of Retinitis Pigmentosa, in Camagüey Province. The ozone was applied by rectal administration, at a concentration of 41 mg/L and 200 mL, for a total of 20 sessions. The majority of cases were in the age group of 25 - 35 years and of male sex.

* The more common patology were ophtalmological diseases and giardiasis. None of the patients treated showed any sign of adverse reactions or undesirable effects due to the therapy applied.

* This study is in agreement with the literature, because when ozone therapy is applied in an appropriate way (concentration, doses, ways of application) any deletereous effect is present.

* Also, a good and fast recovery of the patients was achieved, improving their quality of life, with less cost in medicine and considerable savings from the social security point of view.

The widespread use of ozone therapy is due to the biological effects of ozone, such as: oxidative stress, metabolic and immune system regulator, as well as its germicidal power. In the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), the target of the virus that causes the disease are the cells having the CD4 molecule on their surface, where the main cells of the immune systems are located.

The virus destroys those cells and causes the unbalance of the organism, while the disease is developing. The use of ozone in AIDS, as a powerful immune modulator and antioxidant is applicable as complementary therapy.

A IIIc AIDS patient suffering from fatigue, cachexia, diarrhea, dehydration, anemia, high levels of glucose, creatinine and protombine time, a 0.37 % CD4/CD8 index and a viral load in 2 400 000/mL, who was taking a retroviral cocktail was treated with an ozone cycle by rectal route, with a 5 mg dose with interferon, transfer factor and erythropoietin. After finishing the ozone treatment, a final assessment was performed.

We found then that the fatigue, diarrhea, dehydration and anemia had disappeared, the patient had gained 8 kg in weight and the glucose, creatinine and protombine time levels were normal.

Moreover, three months after the ozone treatment was finished and without interrupting the administration of interferons and a pentatherapy, the CD4/CD8 index increased 0.71 % and the viral load decreased to 1 700/mL.

In our report, we assess the effect of ozone as an immune modulator, an antimicrobial and antioxidant in AIDS/HIV patients.

All these mediators can exert different biological effects on the respiratory epithelium and in addition can contribute to the recruitment of new cellular elements with the consequence of the inflammatory process amplification. In our judgment, the possible therapeutic actions of ozone on bronchial asthma can be based on:

- Its immunomodulating action.
- Its stimulating action on the antioxidant systems.
- Its action on the synthesis and/or release of certain autacoides.

This work intends to explain the ozone mechanism, that avoids airways and that can be effective as a therapeutic method in the treatment of bronchial asthma.

Bronchial asthma is a pathological condition characterized by several reaction of the respiratory ways. Bronchial asthma is the disease that has gained interest from many countries, due mainly to its high death rate and its high hospital cost.

In our study, ozone therapy was the treatment for patients with moderate bronchial asthma Ozone was administered by different ways of applications: rectal insufflation and autohemotherapy, in 20 ozone therapy sessions.

The respiratory test was assay by Peak Flow, Vital Capacity, Expiratory Volume, HLA_DR molecule expression and the serum level of IgE, at the beginning and at the end of our study.

* The results demonstrated that ozone therapy increases the Peak Flow and the expiratory volume at the first second and reduced HLA_DR molecule expression and serum level of IgE.

* These results show that ozone treatment can be a beneficial alternative therapy in inflammatory process of respiratory way.

Conceptual models of carcinogenesis typically consist of an evolutionary sequence of heritable changes in genes controlling proliferation, apoptosis, and senescence.

We propose that these steps are necessary but not sufficient to produce invasive breast cancer because intraductal tumour growth is also constrained by hypoxia and acidosis that develop as cells proliferate into the lumen and away from the underlying vessels. This requires evolution of glycolytic and acid-resistant phenotypes that, we hypothesise, is critical for emergence of invasive cancer.

Mathematical models demonstrate severe hypoxia and acidosis in regions of intraductal tumours more than 100 mum from the basement membrane. Subsequent evolution of glycolytic and acid-resistant phenotypes leads to invasive proliferation. Multicellular spheroids recapitulating ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) microenvironmental conditions demonstrate upregulated glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) as adaptation to hypoxia followed by growth into normoxic regions in qualitative agreement with model predictions.

Clinical specimens of DCIS exhibit periluminal distribution of GLUT-1 and Na(+)/H(+) exchanger (NHE) indicating transcriptional activation by hypoxia and clusters of the same phenotype in the peripheral, presumably normoxic regions similar to the pattern predicted by the models and observed in spheroids. Upregulated GLUT-1 and NHE-1 were observed in microinvasive foci and adjacent intraductal cells.

Adaptation to hypoxia and acidosis may represent key events in transition from in situ to invasive cancer.

A pilot-study with urethane (ethyl carbamate) was carried out within the teaching aims (goal: anaesthesia) for medical students to demonstrate the unwanted long-term side-effects (carcino-genity) of this anaesthetic drug. This was achieved in laboratory animal surgery sessions, and the hazard and potential risk for the personnel (Green, 1979, Pöllman & Schulz 1987) was stressed.

Secondly, the possible post-anesthetic influence of ozone/oxygen on mouse tumor development was also demonstrated. Furthermore, we compared the pre-and post-anesthetic influence of ozonized oxygen to extrapulmonar applications on the modulation of lung tumor development.

In one part of the study we could demonstrate a decrease of 77 % of the number of lung tumors after a single ultra-short inhalation with highest doses of ozone, and a 32 % decrease after repeated periods of inhalation with lowered ozone concentrations over a period of 44-55 weeks in this 2 different exposure groups. The results of the extrapulmonar applications are discussed.

There Was no Evidence for ozone carcinogenesis in NMRI-mice without a Carcinogenic drug.

We studied a sample made up by 50 elderly patients with a previous diagnosis of dementia who were submitted to ozone therapy through different ways.

* The therapy was effective in all types and degrees of dementia with recovery of psychic and motor validity, specially regarding to symptoms of degenerative nature.

* The best results corresponded to endovenous application of ozone and rectal insufflation. Intramuscular injection was less effective. No adverse reactions to treatment were present.

In 38 patients with diabetes were asked to express their opinion on the above treatment. 20 people of the 1st type of diabetes and 18 people of the 2nd one with different degrees of seriousness. The majority of sick people were in the state of decompensation, 22 people (57 %) of them were with some complications.

During the process of treatment the patients watched considerable improvement of their state: they stopped complaining of being thirsty, dry in a mouth, frequent urination, itch of the skin, numbness and tingling sensation in the tips of hands and feet, convulsions in calves of feet. The favorable mark during the first hours after the end of the treatment was lowering of glucose level of blood to 50 % in comparison with the primary figures before the treatment.

At the end of the course glucose level of blood was lowered approximately up to 30 %. Besides, positive dynamics indexes of lipid spectrum, coagulagramme and immunogramme, rising of AOA of blood and lowering of the POL products should be mentioned, in regard to the above treatment. The treatment helped the majority of the sick people to lower a dose of the insuline injected or sugarreduced preparations up to 30 %; in 47 % of cases to achieve compensation, and in 37 % of cases subcompensation of diabetes.

The above observation shows that ozone therapy may be used in a complex treatment of people suffered of diabetes and allows to lower doses of the usage of sugar reduced preparations.

Abstract: It is well recognized the presence of oxidative stress in diabetes mellitus. Ozone can exert its protective effects by means of an oxidative preconditioning, stimulating and/or preserving the endogenous antioxidant systems. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the ozone effects, in a preclinical and preliminary clinical studies, in the oxidative stress associated to diabetes.

We used the hardware - methodical complex for "activity of peroxide oxidation of lipids" (POL activity) determination and the "antioxidant activity" (AOA) estimation. The complex uses automatic analysis of the chemiluminescent kinetic curve, inducted by modeling system - hydrogen peroxide + Fe2+ ions. Determination of POL and AOA was carried out in plasma of human blood, urine and saliva. Besides, conditions of "peroxide resistance of erythrocytes" (PRE) and "phagocyte activity" were determined.

Patients with pneumonia, bronchial asthma and burns were studied. Antioxidant therapy and ozone therapy were used in these patients. Antioxidants for each patient were individually selected, according to the degree of antioxidant influence on PRE in a modeling system. There was noted the correlation of POL activity, AOA changes with a degree of patient condition. At a high degree of intoxication, confirmed with traditional methods, POL activity was reduced on 25 - 40 %, comparing to the normal level. AOA was also below the normal level. Inflammation diseases increased POL activity without lowering AOA. Ozone therapy was conducted with a permanent control of POL - AOA system state.

Results:
* The greatest clinical effect was noted at AOA growth and AOA normalization. In case of POL activity growth and AOA lowering, treatment was made with the help of individually picked-up antioxidants.
* This treatment leads to POL activity and AOA normalization and improves the condition of erythrocytes.

OBJECTIVE AND DESIGN: We tested here the effects of acute administration of an oxygen/ozone (O(3)) mixture on the myocardial tissue damage following an ischemic event


TREATMENT: 100; 150; and 300 mug/kg oxygen/O(3) mixture were insufflated intraperitoneally 1 h prior to I/R. METHODS: Myocardial infarct size measurement and immunhistochemistry or ELISA for nitrotyrosine, CD68, CD8,CD4 and caspase-3 were done.


RESULTS: I/R produced a marked damage in the rat left ventricle with an infarct size as percentage of the area at risk (IS/ AR) of ~45 +/- 4% . Rats insufflated with a oxygen/O(3) mixture showed a significant 2-h cardio-protection (e. g. infarct size over area at risk for the dose of 300 mug/kg was ~30 +/- 3%,) as compared with control rats (P <0.01). This effect was paralleled by a decrease in tissue levels of immunostaining for biomarkers of nitrosative stress (nitrotyrosine), inflammation (CD68) and immunity response (CD8 and CD4) between heart tissues from infarcted rats and infarcted O(3) treated rats.


CONCLUSIONS: These data indicate that the tissue and biochemical damages associated with myocardial ischemia/reperfusion can be counteracted by an acute O(3) pretreatment.

A study with 80 patients suffering from A, B, C hepatitis, since August 1996, in "Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja" Hospital, Camagüey (Cuba) was performed.

Patients, between 17 and 45 years old, were checked before in our laboratory, in order to verify the diagnoses of hepatitis. Conventional treatment (repose and diet prescripted) plus ozone therapy was applied to 40 patients, the other 40 patients only received conventional treatment. Ozone was administered, daily, by rectal way (dose = 10mg), for a total of 15 sessions.

*During the first week of O3 ozone treatment, remission of all the symptoms took place as well as the enlargement of the liver, improving their conditions and their appetite.
*All patients were totally cured at the end of the O3 ozone treatment.
*Under conventional treatment these symptoms remain for more than 10 days and the totally cure was achieved approximately 6 moths later.

Comparing these results we can say that ozone therapy is a suitable treatment against hepatitis, improving the patients health and the healing time of the disease.

HPV is associated with cervical cancer and preceding lesions. Cervical cancer is the second most common malignant tumor in the world, although its tendency is to occupy a first place in some geographic zones, such as Central and South America and the Caribbean region. In spite of several studies made worldwide to establish effective therapeutics against HPV infection, there isn't consensus about this.

Now there are two different treatments for HPV infections. The first is based in lesion destruction by mean of chemicals or surgical methods, but they can't eliminate viral infection. The second one is based in viral elimination with antiviral agents.

* The ozonized sunflower oil (OLEOZON®) has shown antiviral activity in the treatment of viral infections such as Herpes virus.

Our main aim in this study was to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of this product in HPV infected women.

To develop this study we selected 12 women with NIC I, associated with HPV and condiloma acuminate lesions. OLEOZON® was applied daily, in the uteri cervix of each patient, during 20 days. Cytological, histological (in some cases) and colposcopic examination were made to each patient before and after the treatment. Two of the twelve left the treatment.

* From the rest, eight (80 %) women showed total clinical and cytological regression of lesions.

* Viral persistence was observed in two (20 %) patients.

* In some cases, total elimination of vaginal secretion, was observed after the treatment.

* Side effects due to the OLEOZON® were not observed in any case.

The authors have reviewed the medical records of 421 sessions of hyperthermia treatments in 73 patients treated between 1987 and 1992 at the University Heights Cancer Center and the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

All patients had previously "failed" conventional radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery.

Temperatures attained during the course of therapy on each patient were averaged and the results were evaluated for complete, partial or no response.

Responses were defined as:

1) Complete response: Lesions completely disappeared during treatment and response was maintained for a minimum of six months

2) Partial response: Lesions that were reduced in size more than 50%

3) No response: Less than 50% reduction in tumor size during the treatment

Response varied somewhat according to histology and anatomical site of treatment; however:

• complete response was achieved in 45%
• partial response in 48%
• and no response in 7% of the patients.

The response achieved varied with temperature attained and a minimum temperature of 40 degrees C for 40 minutes produced the greatest number of responses. Response to hyperthermia was directly related to the temperature achieved and the length of time the temperature was applied.

We have studied on a dog model if the blood hypoxia disorders may be corrected with ozone and gutimin (guanilurea) after a hemorrhagic shock. Heparinized blood (52 mL) with a preliminary added antihypoxia medication was subjected in vitro to the ozone processing in an oxygenator. The ozone dose was 250 µg.

Hypoxia alterations were defined by increase in blood glucose and incompletely oxygenated products (lactate, pyruvate), statistically significant pH change (acidosis), hypercapnia, growing buffered base lack, decreased antioxidant activity, increasing the primary products of lipid peroxide oxidation, growing the chemiluminescence and erythrocytes aggregation.

* Blood ozonization caused pH shift into alkaline side, gaining pO2 and soluble oxygen amount more than 2 times and an increase of chemiluminescence by 24 %.

* This ozone-intensified peroxidation simultaneously induced a blood own antioxidant system activity growth (its fermental part), aerobic glycolysis growth (carbohydrate conversion products decreased more than 30 %), disrupted the free radical oxidation chain at the primary products, and also decreased significantly erythrocytes aggregation, apparently due to an increase of fluidity of their membranes and oxidation fibrinogen modification.

* Combined use of gutimin and ozone, increased significantly the blood antioxidant capability, improved acid-alkaline condition and aggregation characteristics to optimum values. Gutimin as a substrate of antioxidant protection served as a target to be bombed by active oxygen.

* Repairing oxidation blood metabolism (lactate and pyruvate levels decreased) and detoxication ozone effect without hyperoxia appearance were abserved.

Ozone therapy was used as a component in the complex treatment of intrauterus fetus hypoxia (IFH). Pregnant women with IFH were intravenous injected with ozonized physiological solution, 200 mL per day, during 5 days. The concentration of ozone in the solution was 1 - 3 mg/L. For the production of ozone, a new type of ozonizer was used, in which ozone is synthesized by the means of barrierless glow discharge of high pressure. Working on pure oxygen such ozonizer allows to produce ozone concentrations from 0.1 to 80 mg/L.

The analysis of clinical histories of the new-born children showed that in the group, where pregnant women with IFH received intravenous injections of ozonized physiological solution, the average indicators of the parameters of physical development of the new-born children were higher than that in control group: mass 3300 ± 58 g and length 53 ± 0.5 cm versus 2920 ± 80 g and 48.4 ± 0.4 cm.

The clinical results can be explained by the improvement of oxygen-transport function of erythrocyte after the impact of therapeutic doses of ozone.

Amebiasis is a disease, generally characterized, by dysentery with diarrhea, weakness and prostration. Also, nausea, vomithing and pain may be present.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of rectal ozone treatment in children suffering with intestinal amebiasis. The diagnose was made by cysts or trophozoites of E. histolytica in stools. A control group using Metronidazol was used in order to compare both groups.

Ozone therapy was useful in the treatment of intestinal amebiasis with 83.8 % of efficiency and only 0.55 % of adverse effects, better than the treatment with Metronidazol who gets 71.1 % of efficiency and 17.7 % of adverse effects.

This paper presents the results of 5 years of ozone treatment in patients with liver cirrhosis of different etiologies, using intra-rectal and intramuscular ways of ozone administration. The Cuban ozone generator OZOMED’s equipment was used.

A group of 42 patients with liver cirrhosis post alcoholic, autoimmune, cardiac and post virus B and C was taken into account. The gas was applied in cycles of 30 applications three times per year, during the first and second years; two times in the next two years and only one in the fifth-last year. The ozone concentration was 40 mg/L.

Results: The results showed the normalization of more than 85 % of the clinical symptoms and signs, haemochemical parameters plus others, since the six months of treatment. Some patients eliminated the virus B or C. Patients increased their health quality. No adverse effects were observed in any patient.

Kallikrein-kinin system is the proteolytic system, which regulates the activity of basic physiologic system: fibrinolysis, hemostasis, complement system and renin-aldosteron-angiotensin system. Kallikrein are known to perform the role of allergic and inflammatory mediators and to participate in regulation of microcirculation and arterial pressure. The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of oxygen and ozonated saline solution on the kallikrein-kinin system activity.

The proteolytic activity of kallikrein and kinin-destroying enzymes was studied by Erlanger method with the help of peptic substrate in plasma and in homogenates of the pancreas and of the small intestine. Injection of oxygen saline solution led to increase the activity of kallikrein and kinase during 48 hours in plasma and pancreas (p < 0.001). Injection of ozonated saline solution was characterized with dose-dependent response of proteolytic system.

* The low doses of ozone did not cause activation of kallikrein-kinin system.
* The high doses of ozone induce free radicals processes, increase of proteolytic activity of kallikrein and decrease of kinin-destroying enzymes.
* Thus, estimation of proteolytic enzymes can be used as a sensitive criterion to control efficacy and safety of ozone therapy.

Ozone therapy to benefit patients suffering from a wide variety of ailments has been introduced to Dubai.

Among those to have sworn by the treatment are said to be Britain's Queen Mother, who used it regularly until her death at the age of 102. Ozone does not promise to be an alternative but is a parallel medical treatment, alongside Allopathic Medicines and Oriental Medicines.

"All of them are firmly grounded in science. But the exciting thing about ozone therapy is the breadth of its therapeutic usefulness," said Professor Lamberto Re, an Italian surgeon licensed as the first ozone therapy practitioner in the UAE.

The ozone therapy represents since many years a challenge in the treatment of several pathologies of apparent different aetiology. In the last years, many interesting reports revealed the ability of ozone in reducing pain in several osteoarticular diseases and being effective in lumbar disk herniation.

The lack of randomised clinical trials still induce scepticism, however the direct clinical evidence reinforced the hypothesis that oxygen-ozone mixtures could be useful in different illness and in reducing the intake of the more used drugs, such as cortisones and anti-inflammatory agents.

This work is a first attempt of a wide pilot study in the aim to better characterize at clinical level the efficacy of low ozone concentrations.

The pilot study was designed for the treatment of various common pathologies using ozone-oxygen (O3/02) therapy. A controlled protocol of rectal insufflations (60-100 mL mixture 30-50 µg/mL ozone/oxygen) joined with the minor autohaemo,local intradermic (200 mL mixture 5-12 µg/mL ozone/oxygen) and the systemic minor autohemo (10 mL mixture 30-60 µg/mL ozone/oxygen in 10 mL blood) in conjunction with the major autohemo (120 mL mixture 30-60 µg/mL ozone/oxygen in 120 mL blood) were assessed.

Two hundred and seventy six 276 patients were scheduled for the O3/02 protocol. Among these, 12 (4.3 %) were excluded prior the study started, due to the exclusion statements (clinical evidence of hyper-thyroidism and pregnancy).

During the first two months were executed 1040 treatments. The patients who completed the treatment were 65 (23.5%) while 154 (55.8%) reached the middle phase of the programmed sessions. The remaining 45 patients (16.3%) are still in progress with the indicated treatment. Lumbar and knee pain represented the main clinical sign for both the sexes, with a mean percentage of 29.7 % and 27.9 % respectively.

For the patients which reached the end of treatment (8-12 sessions) was evaluated the reduction of the symptoms during the treatment (mid) and at the end of the therapy (end) according to the VAS scale by assuming the start value of 100 %.

* The best result was for the male sex, which reached a reduction of the clinical signs of 71% in comparison with a reduction of 64 % for the female sex at the end of the treatment.

* The medium reduction of pain for both sexes was 40 % in the mid and 67 % in the end phase of the treatment, respectively.

* All the O3/02 patients group showed a rapid relief of symptoms.

* The haematological parameters, including ESR, transaminases and hemocromo-cytometric data, resulted in the normal range after the final O3/02 session.

* We hope that in conjunction, and not in alternative, of the most common pharmacological therapies for all the pathologies that more frequently affect the human population, O3 /O2 treatment could represent a valid help in the context of a more ethic and safety medical treatment.

UK Medical Institute - O3 Ozone oxygen destroys MRSA infection. MRSA continues to build resistance against pharmaceutical drugs.

MRSA in an Infected Sacral Wound:

Mrs K was in the Royal Berkshire Hospital, UK and amongst other things had a very large and serious sacral wound that was infected with MRSA. It was noted by us that the nursing at the hospital had kept the wound in excellent condition by good nursing practice.

Despite this, all attempts to eradicate the MRSA had failed. Mr K contacted Activated Oxygen to delve deeply into the safety of the treatment and after a few telephone conversations with Doctor Jack he approached the hospital for permission to let us treat his wife at the hospital (we had got this far on many occasions with other clients only to be refused access to the hospital once permission was sought at a high level).

We were delighted to be invited into the hospital to carry out the treatment. After two treatments over four days the wound was swabbed by the hospital nursing staff prior to our third treatment. (We had decided on three treatments to clear the MRSA)

Mr K contacted us a week later to tell us the microbiology report from the first two treatments was clear of MRSA and a few days later this was again confirmed by the report from the third treatment. Mrs K left hospital soon after and the wound has healed up.

MRSA Infected Replacment Elbow:

John came to Activated Oxygen for the first time in June 2006 with an MRSA infection in a replacement elbow joint. We had not treated this condition before but decided on a treatment programme, three treatments on consecutive days were carried out and John returned home. Within a day he reported less pain and more movement.

In September 2006 it became clear that although there had been big improvements we had not completely eradicated the MRSA as a trace showed up in swabs. John returned for two more treatments in a different way that we had developed from treating other prosthetic joints. Today John has reported no pain, a considerable improvement in movement; he is more energetic, does not fall asleep during the day and has put most of his weight back on.

His White Blood Count has dropped from the high 20�s to 6 a slight amount of puss still leaks from a small wound but it appears the infection may already be gone. (We now believe that when a prosthetic joint is treated it may be necessary to also treat via the blood due to the poor circulation in the tissue in these areas, John has not been treated in the blood up to now.

MRSA in the Leg

Julia had an infected leg over a long period of time and had tried many treatments, some made improvements to the leg but it always reverted back when the treatment was finished, she knew about Activated Oxygen as we had treated her mother so she came for a consultation.

In general the MRSA infection is eradicated with three treatments, on successive days. The previously infected area can then be swabbed again and sent to microbiology for confirmation that the infection has been eradicated.

It was initially penicillin that staphylococcus aureus first became resistant to and today we still use flucloxacillin to treat MSSA (methicillin sensitive strains). Some MRSA is resistant to antibiotic treatments for these infections. Thus, staphylococcus aureus is commonly resistant to penicillin, however,newerpenicillin’ssuch as methicillin, cloxicillin and flucloxicillin are resistant to breakdown by the penicillinase, thus staphylococcus aureus is usually penicillin resistant but methicillin, cloxacillin and flucloxacillin sensitive.

MRSA is resistant to methicillin, cloxacillin, flucloxacillin and to all other B-lactam antibiotics, includingallpenicillin’s and cephalosporin’s,because of a change in the cell wall proteins. MRSA also has the ability to pick up other resistance mechanisms and may become resistant to all other anti-staphylococcal drugs.

* In Britain (Cox et al 1995, Scudeller et al 2000) shows that MRSA is primarily a hospital acquired infection with community infection cases mostly in care homes etc.

* (Plowman et al 1999) shows a 10% reduction in hospital acquired infections would result in about £300,000 being available for other treatment in every hospital in 1999.

Mrs Florence Furber recently returned from hospital with a small-ulcerated area present on her right leg causing her much discomfort and pain. A s wab was ent to microbiology and the results showed a growth of Methicilin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (M.R.S.A.)

For many years, her skin has been very frail and it only takes the lightest of touches to break the skin, which, over the past years has happened many times. The MRSA was reported on the 03.03.05 with the results being obtained on the 05.03.05.

Day 6 (15/03/05) - The results of the swab not only confirmed that MRSA had been eradicated but that all pathogens has been eliminated.

... it was fantastic news especially as there was no need for Antibiotics, which would have upset Mrs Furber. Mrs Furber herself was amazed at how easy and convenient the treatment was. One of her biggest concerns before commencing the treatment was that it may hurt, and the fact that the whole procedure was pain free pleased her greatly. In fact during the treatment Mrs Furber carried on as normal reading or doing her crosswords and she stated that she would definitely have the treatment again if she needed it.

The following daring initiative to save an elderly man from probable death from MRSA is recounted to underline the inability of the health service to treat MRSA adequately and not as an encouragement to others to carry out similar acts. New reports have revealed that children are increasingly at risk, while recent studies indicate that MRSA is no longer confined to hospitals but can now be picked up from various community activities, such as sports, leading to the new designation of CA-MRSA (community-acquired MRSA).

This salutary experience should be seen in the context of the author having submitted a report on his 100 percent success in treating 23 (to date) MRSA cases with ozone to a peer-reviewed journal. If accepted, the report will appear in its August issue but will also be immediately available online.

In late August, 2004, my 82-year-old father-in-law was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at a West Midlands NHS hospital (UK). After a few days he contracted MRSA in the top of his wrist after a doctor had taken blood samples from the site. A fellow patient who also had blood taken from the same position also contracted MRSA. My father-inlaw was moved to a single isolation room.

The wrist came up in a large, red and angry-looking lump, similar in appearance to a large boil. With all the health problems my father-in-law was suffering (late-stage heart failure including complications), it was obvious to the family that this infection would kill him.

... The next evening, concealing an Activated Oxygen Medical Ozone Generator in a holdall, I set off for the hospital ...

Without in any way being unkind, I did find it amusing that the various personnel were just unable to admit that the infection was gone but that
they had no clue as to how it could have happened. Within a few more days and repeated swab tests the hospital confirmed to us that they had three clear swabs and my father-in-law was free from MRSA.

The above was over five months ago and I am delighted to report that my father-in-law is alive, out of hospital and holding his own with some sort of quality of life.

Surgical Hospital - Ozone Research Center.

Burn disease is a familiar theme of medical interest because it allows lines of research related to the sepsis syndrome, generalized systemic inflammation syndrome, multiple organ failure, shock and trauma among others.  The aim of this study was to evaluate the evolution of multiple organ injury in a mouse experimental model of critical burn the use of Aloe B, ozone (O3) and epidermal growth factor (EGF). 

We used a dry burn model, 96 female Balb / c, divided into 4 groups: saline as control (SF), Aloe, O3 and EGF, 20 ± 2 g, 12 weeks, combined with hair removal, anesthetized with ip ketamine (150 mg / kg), 5 min before the burn. The burn was produced with an automatic welding machine with 2 bronze plaques adapted, with an area of 6 cm 2 each in the lower thoracic paravertebral region of the animal, at a temperature of 100 ° C.

The animals were resuscitated with 1 mL of SF and treated ip immediately after burn, with 15 treatments of Aloe B injection (0.3 mg/20 g in the first week and 0.2 mg/20 g in the second week , brought up to 1 mL). Were used 0.9 mL of ozone at a concentration of 37 mg / L, for 15 treatments, rectally. EGF (500 mg in 1 mL) ip, single dose. 

The SF group, 1 mL ip. In groups SF, Aloe, O 3 and EGF died 12, 13, 9 and 4 animals, respectively. Regarding vitality, in the SF group 16 animals were dying and 3 with low vitality.  In the Aloe, 5 and 14 less active dying, but with vital signs. In the EGF group and O3 were 20 and 15 active animals dying and 4 and 7, respectively. 

* In the histological study, EGF and O3 groups showed increased activity of lymphoid tissue in the spleen and minor liver and kidney damage, while the control group showed higher expression of multiple organ failure.
